[ There comes a point in every young man's life where he must venture into a panfandom scientific enclosure to retrieve his Navy uniform, in spite of his misgivings in regard to giant robots. Much like a new Pokemon trainer must set out on his own, but with marginally fewer chances of being struck by lightning.

Really, this is your run of the mill exploration of Luceti's village proper, complete with walking into buildings while staring at the ceiling, obtaining +1 midshipman's uniform and unintentional (somewhat intentional) people watching.

Barring whenever it is that Mister Wellard walks into somebody for being preoccupied, that is. And the point in the day where he somehow accumulates a small following of ducks.

He's... he's not really sure what that's about. They're just sort of there when he's walking, hanging out when he sits down, occasionally demanding bread, which he obviously can't not get for them. They're talking ducks. He can only hold out hope that ducks don't have the ability to group into attack formations. ]

[ That's what he's been wondering. He gives a little nod of greeting. ] Henry Wellard. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Miss Katara.

[ Awww yes, learning names like a person who socializes with people their own age regularly. ]

[She smiles and shakes her head.] Just Katara. It's nice to meet you too, Henry. Did you just come in this cycle?

[bravelad]

[ Just Katara.

Huh. ]

Ah- yes. I did. [ A little pause for thought. ] It's been an interesting few days.

[ He will never not put that politely. ]

[The dropping of the gaze indicates the nature of that interesting, you realize, sir.

She takes a halfstep closer.]

I know it's a lot to get used to at first, but really most of the people here are very kind.

[bravelad]

[ But his bulletproof defenses-- yeah, okay, never mind. He can smile in agreement with that much. ]

Yes, they have been. [ One or two individuals compared to the whole of the village, who have been nothing but helpful; most of the time it hardly seems worth worrying over. Annnd a little more bread to those ducks. ] I owe several people a great deal for their kindness.

[markofthebrave]

[And then there's a wry smile.]

Most people who are kind don't do it because they want you to owe them, you know.

[And her gaze flickers significantly to the ducks.]

No, of course not. [ Good Samaritans. Good people. They exist. ]

People that kind, though, I'm happy to be kind to in return.

[markofthebrave]

[Katara laughs a little.]

Fair enough.

[You know. That uniform looks sort of familiar...]

So did you find friends from your world here?

[bravelad]

Yes, I did. [ It is probably the most animated he's been about anything in this conversation. Admiration has a way of doing these things. ] A handful of men I sailed with, back home.

[ Home, that's a bit of a broad term, he supposes, but it's one of the best words for it. ]

That's good, then. Adjusting is easier when you're not alone.

It is. I expect I'd still be quite lost otherwise.

Well, I'm glad that's not the case. [She smiles.] I guess I should let you get back to the ducks.

[bravelad]

Maybe so. [ He hardly wants to keep her, she might have been on her way to something important. Wellard smiles back, entirely genuinely. ] It's been a pleasure meeting with you.
